The Christ Hospital Signs Software and Services Contract with Lawson Software

Lawson Quickstep Healthcare to help community hospital speed deployment of new Lawson ERP system and help accelerate ROI

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2008--Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that The Christ Hospital licensed Lawson QuickStep Healthcare, which includes the Lawson S3 Human Capital Management, Enterprise Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and Business Intelligence Suites. Lawson QuickStep Healthcare delivers Lawson's industry-leading healthcare business applications in a preconfigured software package with built-in best practices. The software package is designed to help simplify implementation, which can help minimize risk and project costs while helping to accelerate overall time-to-value. The contract was signed during Lawson's second quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended Nov. 30, 2007.
The Lawson applications will be a core element of the hospital's new information technology infrastructure following its recent separation from its parent health consortium. The Christ Hospital is a 555-bed, not-for-profit acute care hospital located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It has more than 3,200 employees and offers advanced services, such as cardiovascular care, spine treatment, women's health, cancer treatment, behavioral medicine, orthopedics, emergency care and kidney transplants.

"We had an aggressive implementation timeline for a new enterprise software system, but were also mindful of our long-term business goals and wanted to position the organization to support future growth," said Deborah Hayes, chief nursing officer and vice president, Patient Care Services, The Christ Hospital. "Lawson provides the best solutions for our growth, with a simple, feature-rich ERP package that will help us quickly adopt best practices across our operations."

The Christ Hospital previously relied on its parent health consortium to manage all business processes. As it transitions into an independent entity, the hospital sought a modern IT infrastructure to support its core business processes as well as its organizational goal of becoming a top-ten community hospital within national industry polls by 2010.

In support of this goal, The Christ Hospital selected the Lawson QuickStep solution along with additional Lawson applications that will help empower users and streamline operations throughout the hospital by helping to automate financial, materials management and workforce management processes. For example, The Christ Hospital chose the Lawson Mobile Supply Chain Management application, which uses bar-coding, wireless and Internet technology to help minimize costs through more efficient management and tracking of surgical instruments.

The hospital hopes to see productivity gains within its materials management department as a result of online requisitioning through Lawson Requisition Self-Service and Procurement Punchout. For example, the applications will help automate the requisition-to-payment process and provide several advanced end-user capabilities, such as automatic purchase order generation for multiple orders through a single requisition.

Additionally, the Lawson system's advanced human resources features will allow employees to directly access their personal information, such as vacation time and benefits status, using Lawson Employee and Manager Self-Service. Lawson e-Recruiting will help speed the time-to-hire process by enabling hospital recruiters and managers to quickly assess potential candidates with automated evaluation capabilities.

The Christ Hospital will also use Lawson Business Intelligence, which is part of the core QuickStep offering, for organization-wide reporting and analysis. Through role-based dashboards, Lawson Business Intelligence will help facilitate the flow of actionable information to the right people at the right time, helping ensure timely decision-making.

When complete, the unified Lawson enterprise software system will help improve visibility across the hospital's organizational areas while helping minimize time spent on administrative tasks to promote cost, time and process efficiencies.

"Community hospitals seek the rich functionality of advanced, healthcare-specific business systems, but with a simplified implementation process," said Stacey Hicks, healthcare marketing director, Lawson Software. "With Lawson Quickstep Healthcare, organizations like The Christ Hospital can achieve ROI faster and quickly realize the benefits of Lawson's comprehensive, user-friendly applications."
