Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers Selects Lawson QuickStep Healthcare and Workforce Management Suites

Lawson Enterprise Resource Management solutions to help drive improved business processes and efficiency for regional health network

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 22, 2009-- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers (Sheltering Arms), a Virginia-based network of facilities delivering rehabilitation and wellness services, signed a contract for Lawson QuickStep Healthcare and Lawson Workforce Management. The health network will implement the Lawson solutions to help it address a variety of operational and business challenges associated with supply chain management, human resources, financial management and payroll. The contract was signed during Lawson’s third quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended Feb. 28, 2009.

Sheltering Arms consists of two inpatient rehabilitation facilities, eight outpatient clinics and a limited liability company for physician and psychology services. As a growing healthcare provider, Sheltering Arms sought to replace a number of aging and disparate business systems to promote greater efficiency and create more effective business processes across its 10 facilities. The organization chose Lawson QuickStep Healthcare as the core enterprise management system. QuickStep Healthcare delivers Lawson’s industry-leading healthcare business applications in a preconfigured software package with built-in best practices. The software package is designed to help speed and simplify implementation, which can help minimize risk and project costs while helping to accelerate overall time-to-value.

In addition, Sheltering Arms will use Lawson Workforce Management to help improve and automate employee scheduling and time and attendance activities.

“Lawson offers the industry-specific functionality that our organization was seeking in a package that helps deliver rapid implementation,” said Michael Boemmel, CFO for Sheltering Arms. “We are in a highly-competitive business environment and need to continually be more effective and efficient with the resources at our disposal. Moving to Lawson will help us free up resources so we can focus on improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

“Healthcare organizations of all sizes face a constantly growing number of business challenges,” said Nam Vo, vice president of healthcare strategy for Lawson. “From cost containment to employee staffing to regulatory challenges, Lawson offers enterprise solutions that can help our healthcare customers reduce costs, improve efficiency and become stronger. In doing so, our customers are better positioned to focus more of their resources on patient care.”

Lawson serves more than 500 healthcare industry customers representing more than 4,500 facilities, including eight of the top 10 integrated delivery networks. The company also serves managed care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, clinics, physician group practices, home healthcare, long-term care and other health services enterprises. Lawson solutions help healthcare organizations manage their business so they can focus on their patients, automate and streamline materials management for a better bottom line, and overcome the challenges of the labor shortage.
