Materne, founded in 1888 in Wépion by Edouard Materne, specialised in growing and distributing fruit. In 1938, one in every three Belgian families who bought jam, ate Materne jam. The company is specializing in making jams and compotes and today, Materne-Confilux is one of the biggest manufacturers of jams and compotes in Europe. Materne products like jams, compotes and fresh fruit juices are distributed throughout Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Great Britain.
