Malaysia Dairy Industries Pte Ltd. (MDI) began its operations in 1963 as a joint venture between a Singapore entrepreneur, Mr. Thio Keng Poon and the Australian Dairy Produce Board. Five years later, MDI became a locally owned entity after Mr. Thio and his family bought over the Australian interest in the company.

Over the last 25 years, MDI has seen a tremendous growth in demand for its perishable products and today they are one of the leading providers of chilled fruit juices as well as cultured and pasteurized milk drinks in Singapore and Malaysia. The demands for pasteurized products have increased from 50,000 liters to more than 1.3 million liters per month today.

Largely due to the company's innovative and quality products, extensive sales network and branding, today MDI owns some of the most recognizable brand names in the industry such as Vitagen cultured milk, Peel Fresh juices, HL and Marigold milk and dairy products. With a complete range of over 66 Stock Keeping Unit beverage products, the products are manufactured in Singapore and Malaysia and distributed via an extensive sales network using special refrigerated delivery trucks and vans.
