The Senegalese Sugar Company was founded in the early '70s by Jacques Mimran. His idea of creating a sugar cane farm close to the desert in the Northern Senegal was a challenge in this area where rainfall is low. Today, with a capacity of over 1 million tons of sugarcane, production exceeds 100,000 tonnes of sugar per year. The CSS continues to increase production capacity and today hold a leading position in the sugar industry in West Africa.
