The Hartmann Group, which was floated on the Copenhagen stock exchange in 1982, employs more than 2,100 people and had a turnover of DKK 1.42 billion in 2001. During the past few years it has been extremely acquisitive, buying up companies as it seeks to establish itself as the clear leader in its field.
While Hartmann's core business centers on the egg and fruit packaging sectors, its two other divisions, industrial and food packaging, have been earmarked for rapid expansion.
